The Pagani Zonda S uses a 7,3 litre AMG V-12 which produces 555 HP@ and 750 Nm of torque and weighs 1250 kg. It was first presented at the Geneva Salon in 2000. It is the same engine that is used in the "kleinserie" R129 SL73 AMG. A brief excerpt from the founder of this supercar, Horace Pagani: Fangio told me: “I am thankful to all of those that allowed me to race and to win. My biggest thank goes to Mercedes-Benz, I am a Mercedes man.” And he goes on: “If you will make it the car must have their engine”. The choice of using the prestigious 12 cylinder Mercedes-Benz engine, mounted in a central position, appeared to be very interesting both because of its light weight and its incredible power and torque. Recently a special version of this engine developed by AMG won the GT world championship. So this is in part a Mercedes-AMG powered supercar... Interestingly I asked the representative at the Pagani stand what he though about the Koenigsegg. He said: "It's much more powerful and faster but the Zonda is more comfortable" with a strong Italian dialect. Very polite, interesting and probably very true as well.
The two separate aerofoils distinquish the 7,3 liter Zonda S from the first, 6-litre Zonda that has a bi-mounted wing. The
One-piece forged OZ Racing aluminum wheels. Rear 345/35/19 and 255/25/19 in front.
The premiere of the Convertible was a year ago -2003- at the Geneva salon at a price €485 000, €65 000 more expensive than the Zonda S. only 40 wil lbe built of the convertible. The convertible have a structural rigity of 18 000 Nm / degree (Koenigsegg have 28 000 Nm/degree).
As you can see carbon is used on alot of places on the Zonda.
I do recognize an AMG-logo...
Performance is 0-100 km/h in 3,7 s for both the Zonda S and the Roadster. The Pagani also got Öhlins shock absorbers as the Koenigsegg. Power to weight ratio is for the Pagani Zonda S 2,30 kg/HP and for the Koenigsegg CCR it is 1,46 kg/HP.
